Hartwood is a renowned restaurant located at KM 7.6 of the Tulum-Boca Paila highway, nestled in the coastal area of Tulum. Situated on extensive land, the usable area is approximately 300 m² due to its mangrove surroundings. The built area is 60 m² for the kitchen, adding a large garden that can accommodate up to 80 diners. The design revolves around the main feature: a wood oven, emphasizing a country style and slow-cooking methods, catering to the client's vision of stone ovens and firewood piles.

The oven, serving as the heart of the restaurant, is prominently staged to showcase the culinary process, creating an interactive experience for diners. The project also includes a behind-the-scenes area for back-of-house operations like laundry. Materials used are predominantly organic and locally sourced, with 'palapero' wood utilized for tables, chairs, pergolas, and the bar. These elements were painted white to enhance ambient lighting through candles, providing a clean look and facilitating easier maintenance.

Hartwood exemplifies and showcast how local materials and thoughtful design can create a unique dining experience. As one of the best restaurants in Tulum, it offers a rustic yet refined atmosphere, seamlessly blending with its natural surroundings.
