Hotel Mi Amor, is situated on a 2100m² plot in Tulum with a construction and remodelation area of 1900m². The land already had several independent structures resembling cubes that had been abandoned. The project reused these existing structures, adding new areas according to the architectural program. More than half of the structures on the property were pre-existing, but new elements were seamlessly integrated.
Preserving the existing vegetation was a priority. While the structures were in good condition, the finishes needed renovation due to the jungle's impact. After completing the foundational work, a fresh coat of finishes was applied to the structures.
Hotel Mi Amor is designed as an adults-only hotel, primarily for couples. The concept revolves around the idea of floating on water, making the water element a central theme. The large pool is connected to deck walkways that link various buildings, with water mirrors on the sides, creating the illusion of floating. This water theme extends to the lobby, where the floor features an acrylic element resembling glass, integrating the water motif throughout the property.
Hotel Mi Amor has been recognized, winning with 'Muro Rojo' office for interior design, which includes Mexican craftsmanship and pasta floors designed by Francisco Toledo. The 'Productora' office in Mexico City also played a significant role in starting with the existing modules. This project exemplifies innovative architecture, blending old structures with new designs and a cohesive water theme.
